An upper endoscopy is a procedure that is used to visually examine the upper digestive system with a tiny camera that is located at the end of a long, flexible tube. It is used to diagnose, and sometimes to treat conditions that affect the upper part of the digestive system, including the esophagus, stomach and the beginning of the small intestine (the duodenum).
